Whatever your income, a big unexpected bill or two can throw you into a crisis. And with the current freezing weather, no one should be worrying about being able to afford their heating bills.

That’s why Labour councillors have committed more than £1 million from the government’s Household Support Fund this winter to provide payments of £250 to help Rotherham residents who might otherwise be unable to keep their heating on.

There’s no age limit on the £250 payments, and you don’t have to be eligible for benefits in order to receive them. The team at the council simple need to see that you are in difficulties with your bills, and you only have a small amount left at the end of each month.
